The $1500 Witcher 3 Streaming PC Gaming Build (May 2016)

Build Requested by: Warren from United States

Maximum Budget: $1600 USD

Total Estimated Cost (not including rebates, shipping, or other fees): $1520 USD

Main Aim: High-end gaming (demanding games like Witcher 3 etc) + Streaming

Components Wanted: CPU, motherboard, RAM, graphics card, case, power supply, windows 10, keyboard, mouse, monitor, anti static wrist strap, wireless card.

Please keep in mind the following:

  • All prices below were correct at the time I sent you this build but may change from day to day.
  • Any combo deals included in the build may expire at any time (I personally have no idea how long they're up for) so my personal suggestion would be to order as soon as possible if you're satisfied with the build.

CPU/Processor

Intel Core i7-6700 3.40 GHz ($313)

Due to the nature of how streaming works, the processor is the most important part so I've thrown in a mighty powerful i7. AMD's CPUs aren't as good for streaming because they have lower IPC (instructions per clock) specs. This processor is also going to help with an intensive game like Witcher 3 (they actually have an i7 in the official Witcher 3 recommended requirements).

Since you won't be overclocking I've opted for the non-K version which saves you some money (overclocking version is more expensive). Also, it comes with a stock cooler and thermal paste pre-applied so you don't have to worry about buying those.

Graphics Card

EVGA GeForce GTX 980 4GB SC GAMING ACX 2.0 ($510)

As for graphics, you need a lot of power for a demanding game like Witcher 3, especially if you wish to play at 60fps with settings turned up. The 980 fits the bill for this and is an excellent video card.

Motherboard and RAM Combo Deal

ASUS Z170-A ATX DDR4 Motherboards with Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 DRAM 3000MHz ($205)

This is a special combo deal which saves you quite a bit, but I'm not sure how long this deal will stay up so I would take it as soon as possible if I were you (and of course if you are fully satisfied with this build in general).

Hard Drive

Seagate 2TB HDD ($62)

Case

Corsair Carbide Series SPEC-02 Mid Tower ($60)

Well priced case with good airflow features as you asked.

Power Supply

EVGA SuperNOVA 650 GS 80+ GOLD, 650W Continuous Power, ECO Mode Fully Modular ($80)

Operating System

Windows 10 ($86)

Wireless Network Card

TP-LINK TL-WN881ND Wireless N300 PCI Express Adapter, 2.4GHz 300Mbps ($19)

Anti Static Wrist Strap

TP-LINK TL-WN881ND Wireless N300 PCI Express Adapter, 2.4GHz 300Mbps ($5)

Monitor

ASUS VS248H-P 24-inch Full HD VGA Back-lit LED Monitor ($150)

Keyboard and Mouse Combo

CM Storm Devastator - LED Gaming Keyboard and Mouse Combo Bundle (Blue Edition) ($30)

Also available in green or red. This is a very popular budget keyboard and mouse combo that pleases many gamers out there.
