Top Gaming Monitors 2015:

The Best Bang-For-Your-Buck Models

In this article we'll take a look at the top gaming monitors of 2015 to help you make a wise choice. If you're building a fast new gaming computer then it would be silly not to get a nice screen to go alongside with it.

Your monitor plays an important part in your overall gaming experience (a powerful PC hooked up to an average screen is a waste), and your screen is something you'll typically have for many many years (unlike some other computer parts) so you want to be sure that you pick a good one that will last.

Our aim here is to make your gaming monitor selection a whole lot easier as we have done the time consuming research for you and hand-picked what we think are the top gaming monitors on the market right now in terms of value for money and quality.

Choosing between our following recommendations will all depend on your spending budget and how big of a display you want. If you want to learn more about the different specs and what they mean, check out our article How to Choose the Best Gaming Monitor.

Note to Console Gamers: Getting a monitor for either your PS3, PS4, XBOX 360 or XBOX One instead of a TV will increase your gaming experience too, so these recommendations also apply to you console gamers.

Best "Budget" Monitor for Gaming:

Acer G237HL 23" 6ms

Of all the models on the market right now this Acer has to be one of the best value without a doubt if you're on a tight budget. Whilst it's very well priced, it's still a good enough monitor for gaming and it has a 6ms response rate which is fast enough to avoid ghosting/blurring in fast-paced games.

You don't want to get a monitor with a response rate any higher than 6ms (the higher the response rate, the more likely you are to experience ghosting/blurring). This Acer model also has both a HDMI and DVI connection too, and in terms of picture quality you can't go wrong for the price. Highly recommended if you want to spend as little as possible but still end up with a decent display for gaming.

Notable Specs:

  • Size: 23"
  • Resolution: 1920 x 1080
  • Response Rate: 6ms
  • Refresh Rate: 60 Hz
  • Connections: HMDI, VGA
  • Weight: 10 pounds
  • Warranty: 1 year

Best "Mid-Range" Monitor for Gaming:

ASUS VS248H-P 24" 2ms

Moving up in our list of the top gaming monitors for 2015 we have the ASUS VS248H-P which is one inch bigger than the previous Acer and is also slightly better quality overall. It also has a faster response rate of 2ms which is great for fast-paced gaming.

This display doesn't cost that much more than the previous "budget" Acer model that we suggest, so if you can afford it we'd highly recommend this one. But if you are on a really strict spending budget then the previous Acer is still good enough for gaming.

Notable Specs:

  • Size: 24"
  • Resolution: 1920 x 1080
  • Response Rate: 2ms
  • Refresh Rate: 60 Hz
  • Connections: HMDI, DVD, VGA, Headphones
  • Weight: 9 pounds
  • Warranty: 3 years

Best "High-End" Monitor for Gaming:

ASUS VG248QE 24" 144Hz 1ms

If you can afford a 144 Hz monitor (that is a monitor with a refresh rate of 144 instead of the standard 60), this ASUS model is the perfect choice. 144 Hz allows for a smoother and better gaming experience with fast-paced motion and once you upgrade to 144 Hz from a 60 Hz screen - you'll never want to go back!

This particular Acer is very well priced, displays high quality graphics, and is very popular among gamers for good reason. It has a blistering fast 1ms response rate which is ideal for games, and comes with what's known as Nvidia LightBoost technology which further improves your gaming experience by totally eliminating any motion blur (just note it's only usable up until 120 Hz). I can't recommend this monitor highly enough - you won't be disappointed.

If you're building a powerful new gaming PC you'll want to do everything you can to get your hands on one of the top gaming monitors of 2015 such as this one (or the next "extreme" monitor) to take advantage of the graphics power you have in your system. As mentioned before, a killer gaming rig hooked up to a crappy monitor is just a waste.

Notable Specs:

  • Size: 24"
  • Resolution: 1920 x 1080
  • Response Rate: 1ms
  • Refresh Rate: 144 Hz
  • Connections: HDMI, DisplayPort, Dual-link DVI-D, Headphones
  • Weight: 12.1 pounds
  • Warranty: 3 years

Best "Extreme" Monitor for Gaming:

BenQ XL2720Z 27" 144Hz 1ms

What makes an "extreme" monitor is debatable, as it depends on what size and resolution you're after, but we've picked out the BenQ XL2720Z 27" because 27 inches is a very popular size. Simply put, this is the one to get if you're a serious gamer and want the best of the best.

This model offers exceptional quality graphics and has many great features that make it a top-shelf gaming monitor including a fast 144 Hz refresh rate (a huge step up from 60 Hz monitors and worth the money), a blistering fast 1ms response rate, and other technology features such as Motion Blur Reduction, Low Blue Light, Gaming-comfort ZeroFlicker, and Gaming Refresh rate Optimization Management (GROM) to help you dominate your games.

Notable Specs:

  • Size: 27"
  • Resolution: 1920 x 1080
  • Response Rate: 1ms
  • Refresh Rate: 144 Hz
  • Connections: HDMIx2, DisplayPort, DVI-DL, Headphones, D-sub
  • Weight: 23.6 pounds
  • Warranty: 3 years
